Keeping 17D Miniatures on track for continued success

KYOCERA SGS’s manufacturing expertise and advanced tooling are playing a key role in the ongoing success of a specialist railway engineering company.
While KYOCERA SGS is known for supporting companies in industries such as aerospace, medical and automotive, it also brings value to those working on a somewhat smaller scale.
17D Miniatures is a family-owned miniature railway manufacturing specialist based in Derbyshire. As well as manufacturing large-scale miniature railway products in its own workshops, 17D also supplies parts to other businesses in the railway trade – miniature and occasionally full size!
Its client-base spans the UK, Australia and Tasmania, the USA, Canada, France, Spain, Italy and other countries.
KYOCERA SGS has played a pivotal role in 17D’s success for over half of its ten-year history. Sales Engineer, David Stringfellow, explains:
“17D Miniatures are keen to employ the latest machining methods we advocate with our tooling. Our partnership with them has involved recommending the best strategies, solutions and tooling for the parts they want to make.”
From tooling recommendations to workholding practices to toolpaths, KYOCERA SGS’s machining insight has helped to enhance 17D’s productivity. The company has seen exceptional results by using KYOCERA SGS’s Series 33, Z-Carb and V-Carb tools.
David adds:
“For us, it’s all customer satisfaction, whatever the scale of the project. We’re highly experienced at working with all sizes and types of companies to help them resolve their tooling challenges and achieve greater productivity.”
Managing Director of 17D Miniatures, Tristan Dengate, says:
“I can’t praise KYOCERA SGS enough. I’m very lucky to have access to Dave’s expertise for addressing complex challenges around how we make and finish our products. We wouldn’t be where we are today without the help of KYOCERA SGS.”
17D is celebrating winning a major new piece of work – due in part to support from KYOCERA SGS:
“KYOCERA SGS have been key to us securing a very exciting new project. While it’s still under wraps at the moment, it’s a big piece of business for us. We look forward to continuing our productive working relationship with KYOCERA SGS in the future.”
