As part of Kyocera Corporation’s global drive to become the world’s leading carbide tooling company, Kyocera SGS Precision Tools Europe Ltd (KSPTE) is relocating its European Headquarters from Wokingham, Berkshire, to the Kyocera Unimerco facility in Fradley, Staffordshire.
This strategic move strengthens Kyocera’s European manufacturing and R&D capabilities, enhances operational efficiency, and reinforces the company’s commitment to providing exceptional value and service to customers across the region.
The relocation will create Kyocera’s largest carbide tool manufacturing site in Europe, establishing Fradley as the new European base for Kyocera SGS.
What This Means for Our Customers:
The move brings a host of benefits designed to improve service, innovation, and responsiveness:
- Centralised logistics: Fradley’s central UK location provides improved access to major transport networks and logistics hubs, reducing lead times and improving delivery reliability.
- Expanded R&D facilities: A larger Research and Development Centre will support customer product trials and testing, cycle-time studies, customer events, and training.
- Increased production capacity: The purpose-built, 6.4-acre manufacturing site offers greater flexibility, improved throughput, and scope for future expansion.
- Lifecycle tooling support: Integration with Kyocera Unimerco’s ‘Re-New’ regrind and refurbishment capabilities enables complete end-to-end tooling solutions from manufacture to regrind.
- Sustainability and resilience: Centralised operations reduce carbon footprint and strengthen supply-chain resilience across Europe.
Both Kyocera SGS and Kyocera Unimerco will continue to operate independently while benefiting from shared infrastructure, technical collaboration, and optimised operational efficiencies.
“Kyocera SGS remains dedicated to delivering world-class tooling performance and customer service,” said Hugh Welch, European Managing Director, Kyocera SGS Precision Tools Europe. “The relocation to Fradley marks an exciting new chapter in our European growth strategy – enabling us to enhance our capabilities, strengthen supply chains, and deliver even greater value to our customers.”
This relocation underscores Kyocera’s commitment to ongoing investment in advanced manufacturing technologies, LEAN processes, and sustainable growth across its global tooling divisions.
