At Kyocera SGS, we pride ourselves on fostering young talent and providing meaningful experiences that inspire the next generation of innovators. Over the past two weeks, we had the pleasure of welcoming Ayo Ariyibi, an exceptional work experience student from The Emmbrook School, to our team. Ayo’s dedication and enthusiasm made a lasting impression on everyone at our facility, and we are excited to share his journey with us.
A Year 12 student from The Emmbrook School, where he is currently pursuing A Levels in Maths, Physics, and Economics, alongside an AS Level in Further Maths. With a keen interest in Mechanical Engineering, Ayo’s ambition and passion for technology are evident in his academic pursuits. His time at Kyocera SGS has only further solidified his aspirations to excel in this field.

A Week of Discovery and Innovation:
During his work experience at Kyocera SGS, Ayo had the opportunity to immerse himself in a variety of tasks and projects that gave him a taste of the engineering world. Here are some of the highlights of his time with us:

Farnborough International Airshow 2024
Ayo kicked off his experience helping out with our VIP Customer Days and a visit to the Farnborough International Airshow 2024, where he witnessed cutting-edge technology and innovations in aerospace. This event fuelled his excitement for engineering and provided him with insights into the industry’s future.

3D Design and Printing
Working alongside our talented R&D Team, Ayo learned the art of 3D design. He quickly grasped the concepts and even created his own custom-designed keyring using our state-of-the-art 3D printer. This hands-on experience allowed Ayo to explore his creativity and see his ideas come to life.

Mastering the CNC Machine
Ayo’s journey continued as he helped operate the GROBG350 CNC Machine. He was eager to learn the intricacies of this advanced machinery and demonstrated remarkable skill and precision in executing tasks. His ability to adapt quickly to new challenges impressed our team.

Hands-On Experience on the Shop Floor
Ayo was not afraid to roll up his sleeves and get involved in various tasks on the shop floor. From labelling and packing boxes to shadowing team members, he embraced every opportunity to learn. He also gained valuable insights into sandblasting and sonic washing in our Hardcoatings department. One of the standout moments of Ayo’s experience was assisting with changing the targets in our PVD Coating chamber. This task, which requires attention to detail and technical know-how, highlighted Ayo’s ability to take on complex responsibilities with confidence.

A Bright Future Ahead
His time at Kyocera SGS has been marked by curiosity, enthusiasm, and a genuine passion for engineering. His ability to quickly learn and contribute to our projects made him a valued member of our team during his short stay. We have no doubt that Ayo has a bright future ahead in the field of Mechanical Engineering.
