Kyocera SGS Precision Tools is a leading manufacturer of high-performance solid carbide cutting tools, supporting aerospace, medical, power generation, and motorsport industries. As part of a major growth phase and relocation to our new Midlands site, we are expanding our team and looking for experienced CNC Setter/Operators to join our advanced tool grinding operation.

This move will bring Kyocera SGS and Kyocera Unimerco Tooling together under one roof, creating Kyocera’s largest carbide tooling facility in Europe.

About the Role
You’ll be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining 5/6 axis CNC grinding machines—primarily Walter Helitronic and Rollomatic Tool & Cutter Grinders. You’ll also work with Helicheck inspection systems and be involved in wheel dressing and balancing.

We currently have 2 shifts available

• Day shift – 25% shift premium
• Weekend shift – 35% shift premium

Key Responsibilities

• Set and operate 5/6 axis CNC tool grinding machines
• Produce precision carbide cutting tools to tight tolerances
• Inspect components using appropriate measuring and inspection equipment
• Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot issues
• Track production data, WIP, and machine monitoring systems
• Support and guide operators with setup and technical queries
• Maintain a clean, safe, and lean manufacturing environment

What We’re Looking For

• Minimum 4 years’ 5 axis machining experience, including at least 2 years in tool grinding
• Experience with Walter, Rollomatic, or similar CNC grinding machines preferred
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent experience preferred
• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English, Maths, and Science desirable
• Basic IT skills (Word, Excel); AutoCAD knowledge advantageous

Salary & Progression

Starting salary: £14.85–£17.94 per hour (entry band), with multiple higher salary bands available depending on skills, experience, and machine capability. We offer clear pay progression based on technical competency and development.
